# PlanetSignal Privacy Policy
**Last updated: September 13, 2026**
PlanetSignal is developed and operated by **Teqpan**.

This Privacy Policy explains how PlanetSignal accesses, uses, processes, and shares information when you use the application.
## 1. PlanetSignal architecture
PlanetSignal presents current natural-event, Earth-observation, space-weather, geographic, and related public information from external data providers.
PlanetSignal does not require a user account and does not operate a developer-owned user-data backend.
Current event information and derived event analytics are processed as transient application state. PlanetSignal does not maintain a persistent personal event-history database.
## 2. Location
PlanetSignal can request approximate foreground location when you explicitly use the Around Me functionality.
On Android, PlanetSignal requests approximate location only. It does not request precise location or background location.
Location access is optional. You can use PlanetSignal without granting location permission or using Around Me.
The application uses the requested location to calculate nearby-event distance and direction and to display geographic context for Around Me.
PlanetSignal does not maintain a developer-operated location-history database.
When the Around Me map is displayed, PlanetSignal requests map resources from third-party map infrastructure according to the geographic area currently being viewed. The map provider and normal network infrastructure may therefore receive technical network information, such as the requesting IP address, and information corresponding to the approximate geographic area being viewed.
This location-related information is used only for application functionality and is not used by PlanetSignal for advertising or marketing.
## 3. Advertising
PlanetSignal does not currently display advertising.
PlanetSignal does not currently integrate Google Mobile Ads, Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP), or another advertising SDK.
PlanetSignal does not request advertising identifiers for advertising purposes and does not send user information to advertising networks for the purpose of displaying ads.
If PlanetSignal's advertising practices change in a future version, this Privacy Policy and the applicable Google Play declarations will be updated before those practices are introduced.
## 4. Public data and network providers
PlanetSignal retrieves public information and resources from external providers that may include USGS, NASA EONET, GDACS, NOAA, NASA GIBS, and map infrastructure such as OpenFreeMap.
Requests to external internet services necessarily expose ordinary network information, such as the requesting IP address, to the receiving service and network infrastructure.
PlanetSignal does not intentionally attach a PlanetSignal user account identifier to these public-data requests because PlanetSignal does not provide user accounts.
External services process information according to their own privacy policies and terms.
## 5. Sharing and external links
PlanetSignal can invoke the operating system's native share sheet when you explicitly choose a Share action.
Sharing is user initiated. PlanetSignal does not maintain a share-history database or automatically transmit shared content to a Teqpan backend.
PlanetSignal may also allow you to open an event provider's original source URL in an external application or browser.
## 6. Analytics, crash reporting, and accounts
PlanetSignal does not currently integrate a Teqpan-operated analytics service, user-account system, Firebase Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics, Sentry, Mixpanel, or similar third-party telemetry service.
Features described inside the application architecture as Event Analytics operate on the current in-memory public event snapshot and are not user-tracking analytics.
PlanetSignal does not currently provide user accounts or authentication.
## 7. Data retention and deletion
PlanetSignal does not create user accounts and does not operate a Teqpan server-side database containing PlanetSignal user profiles, location histories, event histories, or share histories.
Transient application data is discarded or replaced as the application state changes.
PlanetSignal does not retain a developer-operated history of Around Me location requests.
Information processed independently by third-party services is subject to those services' own retention, privacy, security, and deletion practices.
For questions or privacy requests concerning information under Teqpan's control, contact support@teqpan.com.
## 8. Security
PlanetSignal uses HTTPS for supported external network services and relies on platform and provider security mechanisms for external-service communication.
No method of electronic transmission or storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
## 9. Your choices
You may:
- decline or revoke the app's approximate-location permission through your device settings;
- use PlanetSignal without enabling Around Me location access;
- choose whether to initiate sharing or open an external provider link; and
- contact Teqpan at support@teqpan.com with privacy questions.
## 10. Changes to this Privacy Policy
Teqpan may update this Privacy Policy when PlanetSignal's functionality, third-party services, legal requirements, or data practices change.
The updated policy will identify its current revision date.
